These are a few of my favorite links....

Here are some links for some sites I have found over the years that have been good for historical sewing/historical costuming.  If you have anything that you think should be added to this list, please let me know :)

RESEARCH AND RESOURCES:

The Cloak and Corset- a great site dedicated to historical sewing with a modern twist on technique.  They have a great resources page.

Fashion Era- these guys have a little bit of everything!
http://www.fashion-era.com/

Vintage Victorian Sewing Resources- Just like it sounds, this site has a great list of sewing resources from fabric companies to books to Victorian societies across the nation.  I usually prefer to do my own digging, but this is a great all in one stop.

Vintage Victorian, Fashion History Library and Custom Reproduction Clothing- this site has larger versions of fashion plates with the original descriptions of gowns.  Good resource for those not wanting to buy large books of fashion plates.

PATTERNS:

Truly Victorian- patterns from the Romantic Era straight through Edwardian.  Fabulous hand drawn patterns with very easy to follow directions
http://www.trulyvictorian.com/

Past Patterns- a good resource for men's patterns which tend to be a little harder to find.
http://www.pastpatterns.com/

Patterns of History Wisconsin Historical Society- I haven't ever tried these, but they look interesting.

Sense and Sensibility Patterns- These guys have some great patterns, Georgian straight through Swing era!
http://sensibility.com/

Laughing Moon Mercantile- This site carries a bunch of different brands all in once place.  I have a great time perusing their selection!

CLOTHING:

Antique Dress- Vintage clothing from the Georgian era through the 1980s and '90s.  Very expensive, but a lot of fun to peruse their fashions for ideas.  Occasionally, they have a not-quite-museum-quality piece for significantly less.

Vintage Textile-  Similar to Antique Dress, this site carries vintage clothing from Georgian through Mid 20th century with some outliers later in the century.  Lots of fun stuff to look at!

Florentine Gloves- I ordered a pair of kid leather white debutante gloves from them for my Sapphire and Snow gown and they are wonderful!  Mine are silk lined so they don't get as hot as some other types.

Civil War Lady- I haven't ever ordered anything from here, but she has some nice looking clothing for sale.

ACCESSORIES:

East Angel Harbor Hats- Darna is a wonderful milliner and I have purchased multiple hats from her over the years!  These are very well made, not overpriced and absolutely beautiful!

MILITARY COSTUMERY:

1861 Civil War Uniform Regulations-  Just what it sounds like!

Military Heritage- These guys have it all, from regulations to fabrics to trims.  Great reproduction resource!
